King Kones, a dancing security guard, and running middlers are all aspects that blend together to add to the charm of Worcester Academy, but what would happen if these qualities were incorporated into a music video? All that was revealed when “dyWAmite”, a video portraying a day in the life at Worcester Academy, was uploaded onto Facebook. But it’s not just the inside jokes and references that make the video a success, but the chemistry and exuberant humor of its creators, Olivia DelloStritto ’11 and Hailey Gordon ’11. Over the course of the year, so many events ranging from movie nights to guest speakers to fundraisers take place right here on campus. Sadly, the turnouts do not always meet expectations. While there is no one to blame, there are certain things that could have been done during preparation to help get the word out.
This is where the event checklist comes in. Mr. Epstein and Mrs. Sebell-Graveline have been working with ideas to help students and faculty successfully publicize events they have been planning in a timely, organized fashion. As a result of their efforts, they have composed a checklist, which includes a list of steps that should be considered before, during, and after an event. The main goals are to spread the word and provide everyone within our community with the details of upcoming events and to help open up communication between students and faculty to ensure that events meet students’ expectations.
