Varsity Field Hockey Fundraiser

On Sunday October 26, 2010 the Varsity Field Hockey team participated in Light the Night Walk at Assumption College.  Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s walk and fund-raising event that pays homage to those that are fighting cancer.

On these walks, participants hold a lit-up balloon, which symbolizes that cancer patients have the support of the community.

The team’s goal was to raise $1,100 for the cause and each player was responsible for collecting $100. The team has already surpassed that with a total $1,675 of donations.

The team also used Fall Festival weekend to spread awareness of breast cancer. There was a donation box set up during the game to fund-raise money for the cause. During the game, the players wore pink extensions in their hair,  and taped pink tape around their sticks to pay tribute to those with breast cancer.
